Twenty-Times Phenomenal (P20 Pro)

Huawei Malaysia decided to drop off their latest product – the P20 Pro, at the Management office for a quick test run. After messing around with it while admiring its attractive full bezel back cover (we got the one in midnight-blue color), we immediately fell in love with it.

As we carefully unbox the Huawei P20 Pro, we noticed the similarities in design compared to another brand of smartphone *cough A type of fruit cough*. But you can instantly identify it due to the home button located on the bottom part of the smartphone; also functioning as a fingerprint recognition to unlock your phone. Or, you can opt for the Face Unlock Feature; it unlocks your phone every single time without fail, even in pitch-dark situations. And unlike the iPhone X where you’d need to swipe up to really unlock your phone, the Huawei P20 Pro immediately does it for you without the excessive swiping.

The smartphone comes with the standard accessories: a fast-charge adapter, a fast-charge USB-C cable, earphones, a manual guide and an external connector (for earphones). Yes, NO HEADPHONE JACK! The Huawei P20 Pro does not come with the 3.5mm headphone port! With the uprising trend of Bluetooth-connected headphones, Huawei probably did not see a reason to include it into the P20 Pro. The earpiece has also been made smaller, situated right next to its front camera, to fit into its “full-screen” bezel.

The Huawei P20 Pro has a 6.1 AMOLED display that offers vibrant blacks and deep colors, runs on 6GB of RAM, along with 128GB of ROM (internal storage), and is currently on android version 8.1.0. With its 4,000 mAh battery, we would say it is one of the best in terms of battery life so far. After a full 2-day use, we did not exactly need the use of a powerbank at all. There is also a set of stereo speakers on the bottom, situated on either side of the USB-C slot, delivering clear and rich audio even at loudest settings, and they sound amazing! One of the main aspects about this smartphone, is with its 6GB Ram and intensive graphics, playing mobile games like PUBG Mobile that requires high level graphics, it was smooth as silk. Thanks to the clear, crisp high resolution, we got WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

Despite the back cover being a fingerprint-magnet (which can be totally solved with any phone casing – that can be found mostly at levels UG Floor and 1st Floor of Plaza Low Yat), we find that the Huawei P20 Pro is not exactly a mere smartphone; in fact it’s a camera in the disguise of a smartphone!

The Huawei P20 Pro is the world’s FIRST triple-camera smartphone, boasting a 40 megapixels primary camera, accompanied by a 20 megapixels monochrome sensor and 8 megapixels telephoto lens; allowing users to take clear and crisp photos and videos. With this being said, the Huawei P20 Pro is very impressive when it comes to taking low-light pictures; colors are still in focused instead of the dark shadows found in most pictures and the level of noise is evidently lower too.

The Huawei P20 Pro is definitely one smartphone not to be missed, especially for photo-taking lovers! For more info, you can check it out at the Huawei Concept Store, located at the Ground Floor of Plaza Low Yat!
